For owners with structures made of or containing wood, the threat posed by termites is ever-present. These wood-destroying pests can cause a staggering amount of damage. Most termites form swarms in February; during this time, winged reproductive termites may be visible in or outside of structures. Once the swarms have discovered a suitable area, they will land, shed their wings, and mate, starting a new colony.
Noticing Signs of an Infestation
Termites are often drawn towards lights and can be spotted around windows or doors. The presence of dirt tubes on foundation walls is another sign of termites infesting a structure. You might notice signs of damaged wood along the grain or scattered pieces of soil around plaster and drywall.
While internal signs of termite infestation might be visible, the external signs aren't always visible. These pests can go entirely unnoticed for years, feeding underneath the floorboards and behind the walls. That's why our staff assists in providing the means to identify signs of termite activity and infestations.
New Building Termite Protection Plan
We know we're more than capable of handling any pests that show up, but we also know our customers would rather not have to deal with infestations. That's why we can help you take preventative measures beforehand, starting from when you construct a brand-new building. Together, we can help devise a pre-treatment termite plan using various strategies to protect your brand-new building. The pre-treatment plans include the base, supportive structures in and around the building, which will be much harder to access later.
When pre-treatment is instituted early on and maintained throughout the building process, it can help make these new buildings less susceptible to termites. That includes ensuring debris is removed and moisture penetration to prevent bugs from making homes within your home or business.
Exterminate the Termite Problems
If an infestation is found in your home or building, our expert team of exterminators can help devise an effective termite treatment plan using the most effective
Termite Bait Stations
When using liquid termiticides, the chemical is applied directly in the soil, creating a barrier between the termites in the ground and your home or building. The barrier created prevents any new termites from gaining entry and will prevent the existing termites in the walls from returning to the soil. When professionally applied, this method protects your buildings from termites for a minimum of five to ten years. At which point the property would have to be retreated to maintain protection.
When using Baiting Stations there is a one time installation, and yearly inspection when bait stations are serviced.
Baiting stations are a mixture of appealing foods, like paper or cardboard, and slow-acting chemicals lethal to termites that attract and eliminate these pests. When installed in areas around the building, the termites will come in contact with the bait and bring it back to the colony where it will be shared. Once distributed, over time, the termites will be exposed and die off.

Termite Baiting With The Sentricon® System with Always Active™
At Clanton Pest Management, we offer the installation and maintenance of termite baiting systems. We use the Sentricon® System with Always Active™, the #1 termite baiting system in the United States.
Sentricon® with Always Active™ works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to protect your home from termites. It does this with its scientifically designed and proven bait that is more appealing to termites than regular wood cellulose.
If you choose to have the Sentricon® System with Always Active™ installed, one of our Certified Sentricon Specialists will place bait stations into the soil around the perimeter of your house every 10 to 15 feet. These stations are only accessible with a special key, which makes them safe for children and pets.
If termites are nearby, they will discover and eat the bait. Because they prefer the bait over wood, they will also bring it back to their colony and create pheromone trails leading to the bait for other termites to follow. The bait includes an active ingredient called noviflumuron, which prevents termites from molting and maturing. This active ingredient will make its way through the entire colony within the bait and eliminate all termites in the colony.
The Sentricon® System with Always Active™ includes maintenance in which we will check and refill the bait stations if necessary. It also comes with a one-year renewable and transferable warranty. For more information about Sentricon® with Always Active™, contact us at (601) 735-4517.
